Sometimes, things may turn out the way we least expected; the results will either be "good" or "bad".
Expectations are our imagination of how things should be(usually good).
Eg: Addie imagines her summer vacation to be the amazing: video calling her friends, playing board games, binge watching TV series, experimenting new things in the kitchen and much more.
Sounds great, right?
Reality is what actually to us. It may either match our expectations or be completely different.
Eg: Addie wants the vacation to end! She spends half of the day sleeping. Her mother won't let her bake. There is less internet connection whenever she has a video call with her friends. She doesn't feel like playing board games. All she could do is just binge watch stuff.
Bizarre, don't you think?
What are the factors that influence our expectations(good and not-so-good ones)? I'll just name a few:
Family
Peers
Surroundings
Internet
What we watch on TV
Vision of life
There may have been times in our lives when our expectations weren't met. Luckily I have a few tips which may be of some help:
#1 Find the cause of what actually happened and be prepared if such a situation comes again
#2 Don't have great expectations. This makes you feel worse when they aren't met. Just remain neutral.
#3 Nothing travels in a straight line all the time. There will be zigzags along the way too- maybe that's what makes it look cool!
#4 Be ready to accept change in plans.
